It is not only Cinderella who has trouble with shoes after the ball.
Having spent a lovely evening at a Family and Friends Cocktail Party at The Malabar Hill Club, Mumbai, we were leaving to go on to a small informal bar called Ghetto. It was well past our usual bedtime, but the younger members of our gang were up for some fun in Mumbai. I had on a pair of borrowed shoes (can not remember why I was not wearing my own – colour co-ordination perhaps), and as we were leaving, I felt a strange dragging on my left foot. Lo and behold, the whole sole had come away! The waiting taxis were going to have to wait whilst I tried to work out how I could party with half a shoe! My lovely friend Yvonne #yvonnephillips who was staying at the club, said she would lend me a pair of sandals. As we walked to her room, my right foot began to feel odd, and once again – lo and behold, the whole sole had come away from the right shoe and peeled back. The result was a look that made my feet seem to be on back to front! To walk from the front door to the guest rooms was quite a challenge, and we do NOT go bare feet in The Club
!
Thanks, Yvonne for being my Princess Charming, and sorry, Kareena #kareenagadiali – but your shoe cupboard is already full to the brim – you won't miss just this one pair!
